All I Want For Christmas Is...

MY 2 FRONT TEETH!!!
This just happened yesterday. They both came out within minutes of each other. I was sooo excited because now she can sing the infamous song. If it would have happened a few days later, it would have been too late. I got the video camera out and made her sing it. She sooo didn't want to so I had to bribe her. I told her I was taking back her Christmas presents if she didn't sing. That didn't work so then I threatened to spank her. Haha! She's waiting til tonight to put it under her pillow so that the toothfairy and Santa run into each other. I can remember Christmas without my 2 front teeth. Now it's my daughter's turn. Where did the time go?

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

I'm about a week or two behind in blogging. We've already gotten our tree and decorated it. After we decorated it, daddy attempted to adjust it and get it closer to the window. It fell down twice on him!!!
We have already hung the lights on the outside of the house. And our stockings are now dangling over our new fireplace mantel.
Last weekend we had our 2nd annual ornament decorating party. It was sooo much fun. Santa Claus made a guest appearance. We ate cookies, sipped hot cocoa, and roasted marshmallows in the backyard. We read a Christmas story then decorated some candy cane ornaments. Mommy chose candy cane ornaments because of their special meaning. Do you know what that is?
It's shape is like the letter “J” in Jesus’ name. It is also in the shape of the shepherds’ crook, symbolic of how Jesus, like the “Good Shepherd” watches over his children like little lambs. Some say the white of the candy cane represents the purity of Jesus. The bold red stripe represents the blood that Jesus shed.
The ornament party was on Friday. Saturday night we went to Nana and Papa's annual Christmas party where we enjoyed a taco cart (and margaritas for the adults)!!! I'll post those pics next. For now, enjoy these ones...
Too much hot cocoa for this lil one.
Leftover remnants of Halloween. We can't seem to get these letters off the house! Yesterday, Megan was playing with the burglar alarm keychain. She activated the panic button and the sheriff responded to the house! These letters spooked the nice policeman who showed up! Lol!
Christmas through the window
Each of the kids have ornaments with their names on them. The older kids have a few of them. Here they are hanging their individual ones.
Excuse the dirt under her fingernails please!
We bought Benjamin one at the Christmas store in Big Bear last year, before he was even conceived. At that time I knew we'd have one more baby but wasn't 100% sure it would be a boy. I trusted God, took my chances, and bought it anyways. So, Ben got to hang his for the very first time!
We practically had to beg Brianna to hang hers. Apparently, she's 'getting to old for this.' Help decorate the tree or hold the baby. She chose Ben! Her friend was over helping out too. I wonder if that has something to do with her lack of Xmas excitement.
I had hoped to post some pics from the ornament party in this post. However, it seems that my mommy duties await me. I can hear Ben calling for mommy upstairs and the echo of the dryer buzzer from the laundry room. Gotta go!

If I Had My Child to Raise All Over Again...

If I had my child to raise all over again,I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I'd finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging.
~Diane Loomans, from "If I Had My Child To Raise Over Again"

I'm Changing Everyday

I look different each day and I'm getting cuter and cuter. Mommy constantly tells me how beautiful I am and that because I'm a boy I'm not supposed to be so pretty. I'm not really sure what she means but she makes me smile nonetheless. I've just started smiling last week. I must be a morning baby cuz I smile the most then. Daddy is a little bit jealous because I've only smiled once for him; he says I only have eyes for mommy. Don't tell him but I'm secretly in love with my mommy.
And she's VERY much in love with me. I know this cuz she's always got a camera in my face while she makes these silly cooing noises. Then she'll undress me and stick me in the craziest places to take more pictures of me. The picture below is me on the linen cabinet. Can a boy get a lil help here?! Someone help me, please!!!

Look what arrived in the mail a few days ago. The outer package was addressed to Master Ben. Mommy got a kick out of that!

Sent all the way from family in Ohio...

And handmade with love....

Thank you Uncle Don, Aunt Debbie, and kids. What a heartwarming surprise. Just in time for winter. Ben loves it, can you tell???

We've used it everyday since then. In fact, I've already had to wash it twice!

Thanksgiving 2009

This year we made a Thanksgiving Tree. I found some fall colored leaves at the dollar store that inspired me and a tree branch from the neighbor's yard. Each of the kids took a sharpie marker and wrote down a few things they were thankful for on each leaf. Then Brianna hot glued the leaves to the branches. And, wallah... a Thankful Tree. Some of our guests even joined in on the fun and wrote what they were thankful for.
We took pictures with cousins...
And shared a few hugs...
Then we watched a movie outside until dinner was ready...
Papa wrote that he was thankful for a his 'mean wife' and Nana wrote she was thankful for her 'new husband'! Mom thought that was funny.
Daddy was thankful for his family. Mom was thankful for her husband, six kids, cameras, and babysitters!!!
Brianna said she was thankful for sisters and her own room. Elizabeth said the Lord and a swimming pool. Emily was thankful for Jesus and her friends and family! What a blessed day we had!

Welcome to Heaven...

Okay, maybe not the REAL heaven. But it's my heaven and it feels pretty amazing! I can only imagine what the real heaven is like. My heaven is the smell of my newborn baby sleeping on my chest, listening to the belly laughs and little giggles of the 5 children in the other room, and my husband telling me how beautiful I am despite the extra baby weight still ever so present. I sometimes wonder if heaven is the same thing for everyone or is it perhaps a unique experience for each individual. If everyone has their own piece of heaven- this is definitely mine. Don't get me wrong. Life with 6 has been hectic thus far. Everyday is chaotic; very little gets done around the house. But this chaos, my chaos, will one day be gone and I'll wish it was here again. Therefore, my chaos is my heaven!!! Like I've mentioned in past blog posts, I want so badly to freeze time and just live this moment forever.
We've all been busy over here soaking up baby Ben. In fact, we can't get enough of him...
She's a pro at this by now, see how bored she is, lol...
Some of us get mad when we have to share him...
So, on my last day on Earth when I finally meet my Creator, He just might let me live in my frozen moment. And perhaps, He'll greet me with..."Hello, Christine, welcome to Heaven!"
So, what's your heaven like?
