Never Bite A Swollen Lip!

Matthew went to the dentist the other day. He had to have 2 cavities filled. The dentist warned him not to bite or suck on his numb lip. Add Image
Do you think he listened?
Ahhhh, so that must be why they tell us parents to "keep an eye on him" and "make sure he doesn't play with his lip!" HA! Easier said than done!

Halloween Sneak Peek

Here's a few of the decorations up. Definitely, more to come. Here's Elizabeth leading the tour through what will be the graveyard. Those aren't ALL of my kids, so don't even go there! In fact, only 3 of them belong to me, lol! Our house is definitely the 'hangout' for all the neighborhood kiddos.
Megan excited to show you the lady in the window. And yes, Megan's crib is right on the other side of that window. Poor Baby!
My inside decor is much calmer than daddy's outside, wouldn't you say...
Once again, I promise we are a God loving NOT a devil worshiping kinda family. Daddy, just can't help himself. This is his FAVORITE holiday.

Last But First

See this picture. To me, it says: "Oh no, there she goes rambling again!" Yes, Emily, here I go again!!!!
(Emily, 2004)
Right now, I'm a bit emotional. Just a little bit. No need to worry though, I think its all very normal. My pregnancy is coming to an end. And I can't help but think of the ugly word "LAST". This is my LAST month of being pregnant, with my LAST child. It will be the LAST time I feel a playful little kick, a foot in the rib, or the soothing rhythm of hiccups from an unborn child. I will NEVER again be approached by a perfect stranger asking to rub my belly. Or asking me if this is my FIRST pregnancy! I will NEVER again get to play along with her and tell her that indeed, it is my first pregnancy, the whole time laughing to myself because I have soooo many little rugrats at home! If only she knew! This will be my LAST time rushing to the hospital in the middle of the night- eager to meet my child. My LAST time getting pampered by the nurses in the hospital, or even by my visitors. My LAST time nursing a hungry baby. NEVER again, will I get to watch my unborn child move about inside me, or an elbow slide across my belly. I will NEVER get to hear another unborn baby's heartbeat or watch a new life appear on an ultrasound screen right before my eyes. So many LASTS. It is bittersweet because with the end of all these LASTS starts so many FIRSTS!
(Matthew's FIRST time at the beach, 2008)
I have soooo enjoyed this LAST pregnancy, although it flew by! Right now, I'm a bit uncomfortable. My lower back aches and my tummy itches. Somebody let "charlie" the horse out of the corral, he's been running loose in my calves! I have lots and lots of Braxton Hicks contractions. Oh, did I mention my sausage legs, I'm swelling too! Fortunately, daddy reminds me as often as possible how beautiful he thinks I am. Although, something tells me he's missing the 'old' me. Ya know, the skinnier version.

(Hawaii, 2007)

Baby days.
They. are. coming. to. an. end.
My childbearing days are really over with. It is almost time to say goodbye to this chapter of my life. Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited to start the new chapter. The one where I get to watch the children grow up and enjoy them all in the different ages and stages of life. I get to help my daughters grow into beautiful young women and my sons into strong, yet caring gentlemen. I'll get to spend more time with my husband without a wiggly child between us begging for attention or interupting another 'adult' conversation. No more bottles, no more diapers.

(Matthew, 2006) Perhaps my future holds some more 'adult' kinda vacations. More dates with daddy. And the best part, less childcare costs!!

(Anniversary trip, 2007)
But I know that when I'm old and I ponder back to my younger days in life, I will always remember these years as my favorite. There's just something about a new little baby in the house!
(Megan, 3 months)
Ben, When I go to my Dr appts, I get to hear your heartbeat. My own heart skips a beat and I break out in smile. My Dr. laughs at me. Perhaps, he thinks I should be used to this by now. Perhaps, because he gets to hear fetal heartbeats a hundred times a day it is no big deal to him. But, please know, as with every one of my pregnancies, (and even though you are my LAST child) to me, it is still music to my ears, like hearing it for the very first time. Mommy's eyes still fill with tears; I am still in awe. I am reminded of how amazing conception is. The ending result= YOU. If you think about it, pregnancy is a miracle. So many things can go wrong, and yet I've been blessed with 5 healthy (and beautiful) babies. You will be here very soon, son. Boy, oh boy, are we excited to have another 'lil guy around the house! I can't wait to meet you! ~ Love, Mommy

Brianna is Home!!!

While Brianna was busy exploring the East Coast, we decided to have a little surprise waiting for her when she got back home! She very much deserves one considering how much this kid helps out around here. And, since daddy & mommy can't afford a New England cruise anytime soon, something more affordable and budget friendly will have to do! For awhile now she's been bugging me to change her old bright pepto bismol pink walls to a new soothing aqua-ish colored hue. So, out with the old, and in with the new! We had daddy waiting in the room for her with the lights off so he could snap away when she walked in. Elizabeth lured her into the room and Brianna turned on the lights. Boy, was she surprised!!!
See my dorky face in the background, I think I was more excited than anyone in the room! Here she is checking out her new Pottery Barn inspired Flokati rug. Pottery Barn $99.00, Walmart $19.99!
It definitely looks much more grown up. After painting it, I was so happy with the color that I didn't want to leave the room. I told Miguel that I want this room and Brianna can have mine.
Daddy and I worked on a few projects of our own to add to the room to kinda personalize it. Since Brianna is very much into photography lately we thought we'd put together something where she could display her photos.
Here's dad's project. It's a tiled wall board. Again, we were inspired by Pottery Barn's $299.00 one. Daddy made his own for $45.
This one is the Pottery Barn one- I like ours better!
This was my project for her. It's an iron scroll purchased at Pier 1 Imports. It was originally a bronze color and I spray painted it white to match the room. We are using mini clothespins to display her favorite pics!
And a pre-teen room isn't complete without a large self-portrait! So I enlarged one that we recently had taken by my good friend, Angel.
http://www.angelgphotography.com/ Needless to say, she was very excited. During the reveal she kept saying, "I can't believe this is my room!"

It's Coming...

Do you all know what tomorrow is????
Well if you know the Mejia family, you'd know that was a silly question!
Here's us around this time last year.
Tomorrow, is the 1st of October! In the month of October, BIG things happen over here!!! In fact, Daddy has even take the day off tomorrow to start getting the yard ready for the big day! Daddy's Halloween decoration collection has grown some over the past few years and it now takes several days to finish everything. He has been busy building a few new things to add to the collection as well. We don't usually do the inside of the house because the outside, by far, is scary enough. But, this year I've decided to do at least a few things inside, just not as freaky as daddy's showcase. Stay tuned, I'll be posting pics of our progress. Megan, just got her costume last night. Can you guess what she's going to be??? Here's a clue...
Kinda hard to tell when there's an annoying big brother right behind her! There, that's much better!

Must Watch Video

I haven't blogged much lately, not much to say. Brianna is still with her Nana and Pap and is due home tomorrow. We all miss her so much. Elizabeth, Emily, Matthew, and Megan have been counting the days til their sissy comes home bearing gifts for them. Mom and dad have been working on a special little surprise for Bri. And Ben is stretching mama's tummy out by the day, making it very hard to sleep at night, 6 more weeks to go! Here's a video that I came across and wanted to share... turn up the volume... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxQTU0YCQdE&feature=related

Brianna's New England Adventure

Brianna left early this morning to accompany her Nana & Papa on a 10 day long New England Adventure. She's keeping a journal of her daily sightings, if you want to follow along click on the link below: http://mytripjournal.com/Brianna This is her first time on an airplane and she'll be flying for about five hours! Next, they'll hang out in Boston for a few days, that's where Nana grew up. After that, they'll board a cruise ship and travel up the New England Coast. She'll just love it if you leave her a message on her website. Thanks for checking it out!
