This week was the start of Teacher Appreciation Week. Each day of the week has a theme with it. Today, was bring your teacher a flower. Rather than bring real flowers, because I figured all of the other students would do that, we made flower pens. If the teachers are anything like me,

Look-a-Like Survey
It's been awhile since we've had a quiz or survey here on this blog. In fact, I think the last one was around the time we were guessing the gender of Ben or choosing the perfect baby name. This post is one I've been wanting to do for such a long time. I just never have the time to scan old pics. Today, I MADE time. I'm always hearing different opinions from different people on which one of my daughters looks the most like me. I have my own opinion but I thought it would be fun to post a pic of me around their age and let you once again choose for yourself.
I am in 4th grade in this picture here.

I heart Photo Contests!!!
Fall Photo Contest
I haven't won one yet, but it hasn't stopped me from entering them. Never give up, right? Especially when there's a prize involved. So, here's the latest one I'm entering:
Karen, from Write from Karen will be giving away a $25 gift certificate to the store of your choice (must be on the list) if you win. Don't be shy, hop on over and join the contest. Better yet, maybe NOT, it will increase my chances of winning if you DON'T join!

Educational Updates
I was just telling Miguel that I think teachers/schools give these kids wayyy to much homework nowadays. From the time they get home from school, it feels like we are doing homework for hours on end; at least til just minutes before dinner. Elizabeth already had a project to complete (a Family Tree) and it's barely week 3! How are kids expected to be kids?! Seriously! They are in school for about 7 hours and STILL have to come home to do MORE work! It doesn't make sense to me.
However, I could be wrong...
The kids are in their third week of school. I'm already amazed at their progress. We learned that Brianna has scored higher than all of the other kids in her class in reading scores. She has set the record/goal for everybody else. Elizabeth was student of the week AND we were given notice that she already knows ALL of the 2nd grade sight words. She will be given 3rd grade sight words to learn while everyone else is still working on 2nd grade! Speaking of reading, Emily has out of nowhere, just started reading remarkably. She needs very little help now which makes reading more enjoyable. Matthew is learning to write his first name along with letter recogniton. And Megs, lately her personality has exploded! She is quite the character, making us laugh by imitating scary voices and giving dirty looks! She still sometimes refuses to talk but just this week I caught Matthew teaching her a word or two and she was repeating them perfectly. When she saw mommy watching she went back to baby babble. Little Stinker!
What do you think? Are kids given too much homework nowadays or is it just me?!

Photo Contest 2

Okay, so I didn't win the other contest. Call me determined but I'm trying again. This week's theme is JOY. This is Elizabeth in a recent trip to Big Bear. This was our first ride in Papa's boat. You can see the JOY and excitement in her face. Get used to seeing these photo contest posts everybody- cuz I'm gonna keep 'em up til I win! Hehe.

Photo Contest

Lately, one of my fave things to do is take pics. I'm gettn pretty good at it too, at least I think so, lol. This week I'm entering an I Heart Faces Photo Contest. This is Emily, a face I think worthy of an entry in the contest. I'm an amateur at the whole photo thing but my kids are giving me plenty of practice. Especially this kid! I bring out the camera and she's all over it!
Here's the link if you want to enter or to just check out the other entries:
